Will goats protect chickens and ducks?

Some of our chickens are going to be sharing our barn with the goats (each will have it's own area) but I was wondering if the goats will offer any protection to the chickens when they're out in the pen? We're going to have a very large goat pen that the chickens will have access to, and they will also be able to free range as I'm sure they'll have no problems getting out of the pen. It won't be covered though so I wasn't sure if the goats being there will make them less susceptible to hawks and such?
 
Goats will offer little to no protection for your chickens. If you plan on an uncovered run, be sure to have lots of places for them to take cover under. They will utilize those spots for shade in sunny weather and as a place to stay out of sudden rain showers, as well.
 
Any ground predator the goats will stand by and watch the chickens be taken one by one and if a coyote, bobcat or dogs the goats will be running from the danger just as the chickens will try to do.

If you free range expect losses.
 
Thanks! I figured as much but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. They'll have lots of hiding spots and access to the coop/barn. We're going to do a covered run for some of them attached to our actual coop - though they will free range as well - but the chicken math got me and the coop is now too small for everybody, haha.
