Muscovy duck eggs URGENT!

Hi,

I'm looking after my neighbours 3 Muscovy ducks whilst they're away. Neighbour told me that one has a clutch of around 17 eggs.

I just went to put them away and all the eggs were out of the shed / nest and lying outside on the ground. I'm bewildered as to how they've ended up outdoors but i've checked each egg and put them back in the nest. All are OK - but one which is a slightly weird shape. I've taken that one out. The mum has gone straight back on to sit them fortunately.

I hope i've done the right thing? What do I do with the shapely egg? I have a Brinsea eco mini which is currently set with Bantam eggs due to hatch in 9days. The duck egg is sitting on my kitchen bench at the moment. Can I set it in with my Bantams?

I know nothing of ducks or their eggs. Please help! Thank you
 
I would wonder why or how all the eggs got scattered... Predator maybe? Does the odd egg resemble the other duck eggs? You wouldn't want to hatch out snakes or something on that line...Either way I would probably candle it to see what's going on with it.. If it smells definitely discard it..
 
Yes I wonder too. All eggs are Muscovy duck eggs, All eggs were laid two days ago so I dont want to candle.

What should I do with the odd egg please?

Snakes lay soft, leathery eggs which aren't likely to be confused with A muscovies egg. Also, they have different requirements and a longer incubation period than a duck egg.

Turtle eggs can be leathery or hard though.

What makes the odd egg odd? Is it more pointed at both ends than rounded at one? Larger? Pink Plastic and filled with candy? I don't want to say that you should toss it if it's one of her eggs.

You said your neighbor told you she had a clutch of 17? Is this odd egg not one of the 17?
 
We dont have turtles or snakes (im in the uk) Theyre definitely all muscovy eggs.

On looking at the eggs this morning, it was odd because it wasnt oval like the other eggs. It also had a hairline fracture and was leaking so ive tossed it.

We still dont know how the eggs managed to get out of the shed and on to the path, spread in different locations and not damaged. Mum seems happy sitting on them so hopefully no harm done.
