Ok, I want to know what is a normal amount of egglaying? I have a mixed flock 2 buckeyes 2 EE's and 2 RIR. All the chickens are healthy and just hit their 1 year mark. I even weighed them and they all run at teh standard weights for their breeds so they aren't over weight. However they could use a little more exercise. I average around 3-4 eggs a day. Is that normal? My most trusty layers with spring approaching seemed to have slowed. Just making sure I am hitting about what is normal for a flock.

Sounds pretty normal to me.
Not all birds lay consistently, especially after the first year.
Sometimes it has to do with breed, sometimes just the individual bird.

Do they free range? They might be laying out in range area.
I assume not because of the exercise comment.

What and how are you feeding?
Any changes in housing, population, predation?

They right now are getting grower feed (18% protein) with oyster shell available. They do get out of the run about 1-2 hours a day Just not all day as I have dogs and don't want to risk them getting killed. In the last month there have been 4 pullets added but I added them gradually and there were not any big scuffles or anything. Some days I will get 5 ( as one bird just has always been a lay whenever she wants type of girl) but then some days two. Are the breeds I have inconsistent layers?
