Open bator or not...

Thread Starter

I ordered some eggs on Ebay. I put everyone in the incubator at the same time. Last Thursday was day 18 LOCKDOWN. These little guys started breaking out on Friday night...(day 19).

There are 10 that have hatched since late Friday night through last night. I am still waiting on 7 eggs.

As of tonight, Friday nights babies will have been in there for 48 hours.

How long is everyone comfortable with leaving babies in the brooder for? I read 72 hours is okay...then a breeder told me 48 hours...

I am using a Hova Bator and can't open it at this time right?

What should I do?

If your humidity is 65 to 70. I would remove the baby chicks.

I usually remove mine once they are dry and fluffy.

But I'm kind of hands on. Open to assist chicks, remove dry chicks or to candle eggs that haven't hatched yet.

I'm with feedman, I would take them out. I would steam up my bathroom, take the incubator in there, remove the fluffies, and candle any unpipped eggs. Now, if none of the 7 have pipped, I might not even bother with the steamy bathroom. Did you candle at lockdown to know if the 7 might hatch?
