I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Rusty. I'm completely new to this chicken thing. We recently picked up 2 Rhodebar pullets and 2 Cinnamon Queen pullets. I'm going to attach pictures of the coop (dog house turned chicken coop) and hope for some feedback whether it be negative or positive. I'm looking for ideas to make things better. The run is going to be 14' long by 10' deep and 6' tall, completely enclosed with fencing. Any ideas or feedback is appreciated. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome! You will find many of your questions already answered in forums on this site. Just use the search bar at the top. And of course you can start a new discussion as well. I don't know what I would do without BYC....

Hi Rusty and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. I'd suggest posting your coop question in the "Coops and Runs" forum for the best response. For now though, I am not seeing any ventilation (sorry if its just that they are not showing in the photo).

Best wishes

Nice to meet you Rusty. If you have a solid top on the run if will provide some shelter from the elements, as well as keep out climbers, jumpers and raptors. Plus keep chickens from flying out.

Crowded chickens are angry chickens. Rule of thumb is to allow 4-5 sq. feet per bird in the coop, excluding nest boxes and roosts. and 10 sq. feet per bird in the outdoor run.
