Hen isn't broody, but isn't laying either

I have an Easter Egger who's not quite a year old.  She was my first layer and was very regular for a few months, then she just stopped a few months ago.  She isn't broody, she doesn't seem to be moulting (spring seems like an odd time for that anyway).  She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, nor does she seem to be over weight.  She happily runs around with the other hens, and has free access to layer pellets.  She just hasn't laid eggs for a few months.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

That has been my experience with EE. For me their laying has been hit and miss. The stop and start throughout the season. They are a mixed breed bred for egg color so production isn't always in their breeding. So I would say to expect her to be unexpected with her laying.

Huh, OK.  This is my first Easter Egger.  I had assumed the poor layers just laid fewer eggs per week (like 2 per week), rather than laying 5 eggs a week for a few months, then just quitting for a few months.

Mine would take most of the summer off. They also would start late and stop early in the season. They are pretty and their eggs are too.
