How many ducks can fit in my coop?

I have a duck coop (was a chicken coop) that is 5' x 8' surrounded by a fenced in yard that is around 30/40' long and about 11' wide.

How many ducks (medium sized, Welsh Harlequin, Cayuga, white layer and Ancona) can I have?

I will also be letting them out of the duck yard and into my back yard quite frequently.

Storey's Guide to Raising ducks recommends 2 to 6 sq ft per duck depending on size for their housing... medium breeds, so I would go with 4 sq ft per duck... that would max you out at 10... this is also dependent on their temperaments and habits, etc... I would start with a smaller group and leave room for additional later... smile.png

Btw, I highly recommend that book, Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks... tons of great info in it for any duck owner... smile.png
