Hi, i was wondering if someone could tell me what breed goose is best as a pet and companion and what i need to know before i get a gosling i have been looking it up, also what the best hatchery is to order it from?

Pomeranians are pretty docile.

Have you raised waterfowl before?

My most friendly and docile goose was a China Goose raised from a hatchling bought at a feed store. I kept her in the house with some Buff hatchlings until fully feathered. I used to carry her wrapped in a hankie in my bib overalls and kept her in bed with me at night. We were well bonded. She would follow me when in the yard. A good companion animal. Sadly, a neighbor's dog killed her.

I have noticed that other people's China geese tend to be curious and will approach.

My other geese are Buffs and Africans who are less friendly.

Sebastopols!!!! I've raised them for 10 years and I've had about every kind of geese years ago. I used to have a mixed flock of 85 of every kind of breed. And Sebastopols are my personal favorite, very sociable. As soon as they seem me coming up the road and turn into the driveway. They go running up the hill to the feeding pen looking for me. Begging for treats, they follow me everywhere. All I have to do is come into the yard and holler at them "Girls, Girls" and they go to honking and running to me. Of course most geese can be easily trained, I'm not saying that. But speaking personally Sebastopols are the most quiet and docile breed. Toulouse would be my second choice.
