Anybody else have chicks piling on top of Premier Heat Plate?

Just the last day or two my (almost) 3 week old chicks have been all huddling on top of the heat plate at bed time. All day they are out and about playing and trying to fly. Up until this point they had always slept either under the plate or just beside it. I have raised it twice since they started doing this but it hasn't made a difference. Has anybody else's chicks just decided to cuddle before bed?

I would say that the plate is likely still too low, and uncomfortable warm.  Those chicks look well-feathered for their age, and probably do not need a lot of heat, especially if the room they are in is warm.  Try raising it a couple of inches.

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?
