Hi, everyone!
I have a couple of Splash Australorps who have a different base colour. One is White with dark splashes. The other has a Blue base with dark Splashes. They're only 8 wks old but definitely males. Would the one with the White base colour be called a White Splash or is it the other way around? The other one, has really caught my eye. I think he has a beautiful variation with that Blue base colour. So, with him, would he be called a Blue Splash or is it the other way around? I don't know the parentage as I purchased them as fertile eggs but I could probably find out depending on what the breeder remembers using at the time. I ended up with a Black pullet as well though I ordered Splash Australorps. I do realise that genetically that can happen with this particular variety so I'm not concerned. All are very friendly anyway.
And, just for the record, I also have a lovely White Crested Blue Polish hen, who after 2 1/2 yrs of being a Blue decided to become a Splash last season. That was quite a surprise!
Any information would be helpful.
Plus, I'm sure there would be others out there interested in this question.
