That, and the employees at TSC know absolutely nothing, and will say anything to get chicks sold. You would have saved money ordering directly from a hatchery, even with a small order fee.

Ya i went in and the bin said black sex links. Then a week later it said black australorps. I made sure to get ones with no dot on the head because some did have white dots. So annoyed they mislabeled them

They could very well be cockerels. However, all of the Black Australorp hens I've seen have quite large combs, though. Here is an example. In the picture below they are all hens (full grown).

Those combs are no larger than the average single combed bird. It's the Leghorns that have really large combs.

I do have an australorp hen. Ive had her for a year and i rememver her comb being black?

That's called gypsy face, and it is something a chick will grow out of as the mature. It is the result of malanizers associated with the extended black gene. Not all Auatralorps will have it as chicks.
