So I'm not sure really how to word this but here I go

I had 2 hens laying on their eggs so I left them alone and didn't mess with or go in the house until day 30 (I know it's day 21 that was just in case we miss calculated)
When we looked it seemed like another hen got to there nest and shoved around there eggs and ate a few, although now they are laying on another nest and I have no idea when they started sitting on that nest.
I told my parents and they told me to get the hen out (more of let her get out on her own) so we can take 2 eggs. I took 1 from each nest and one from the old one and all three eggs had chick's at a different stage
One was just getting its feathers another was just getting it's eyes open the last one had a chicken probably on day 5. Lucky she still sat on her nest.
I was wondering how you can tell if the chick's are dead or alive in the egg without messing with them much?

I know long post sorry
Thanks Chase and dreamer

P.so I know you don't care but Chase will be the name of my puppy I will get and Dreamer is the name of a horse foal I will get.And eventually I will start a YouTube channel about them called chasing dreams with Chase and Dreamer
Sorry had to

i guess just wait.If there is no chicks by day 30,your luck is over more then likely. It only takes hens 21 days to hatch her chicks or a few extre (1-2).

Well I don't know what day this new nest is on I'll just have to wait

and I don't have them yet but I am so hoping I will very soon

I have Rode Island Reds (6 herbs and 1 rooster). I left 2 eggs under my broody hen and is been about 22 days since I left these eggs, my questions how can I tell if these eggs are viable with baby chicks in them and how long dies it take until they hatchave naturally? No incubator, just beautiful wreaths and a broody hen, who only gets up to eat and drink

All i can answer is, it takes 21 days more or less. So they could hatch at day 19 ot the longest its ever taken 27 days.

I have heard that if they are fertile and a chick is in it they should float because of a air sack and if they wiggle they are alive

But that hasnt worked for me because we cant take the eggs and you probably cant either. So i am very sorry but i cant help you with that.

The eggs my hens where brooding died at some point and she laying on another nest and ive been trying to figure out how to tell if they're alive myself

Sorry and happy hatching
