our coop and run will not be connected, what kind of issues should we expect?

Mine seem to really like having a long skinny run (ours is 40x4) rather than a smaller square. They really work up some speed!!
 
I think I figured out a way to connect the coop and run. Thanks in part to the persistence of everyone on here telling me to connect them! I'll just have a wall between the back wall of our house to the coop, with door and celiing. Hopefully the contractor can make something cute.
 
Yay! Run and coop connected. Different parts of the run and coop are sunny at different parts of the day! This being Los Angeles it's always hot. Ugh. Send us some rain from the PNW, please!
