Hi, my name is Patti, and my sweetheart is the chicken expert.I'm taking care of his chickens.Right now I have only hens, which I have named. I think that's the first step to taking care of an animal. They are so pretty, and sweet and very well behaved.
The way the coop is fixed, I can't visit with them up close, so I just talk to them and hand them in what they need.
I'm feeding them cooked oatmeal and potato flakes sprinkled on top. I have some sunflower seeds, too. The only
Finally. There's a break in the rain, so I think I hear some chickens calling me to share my culinary delights with them.

Thanks! I feel more confident in my chicken rearing abilities already since I'm in the company of many chicken experts.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Welcome to BYC :frow Those culinary treats sound wonderful, but they should be fed a minimum of 90% of formulated chicken feed with the treats as an extra.

I think my hens are nine months old and maybe pregnant. I have no idea what kind of feed to buy them when I get paid on the third of June. Any ideas?

If you don't have a rooster  your hens could not have fertile eggs (pregnancy of sorts).  They will just lay non-fertile eggs which is the kind most people want to eat.  If they have been laying eggs  they need to be on a chicken feed for layers -  they also need a separate holder for crushed oyster shell which they will eat free choice, if they need more calcium.

Calcium is important so their eggs will have good, firm shells.  Since you are a newbie,  I recommend you head for the Learning Center above, and begin your chickens education. after awhile you will impress your  sweetheart.
