Abandoned her only baby chick

Help! Hen got off nest on day 20. One chick hatched on day 21.she won't tend to the baby it's been in nesting box alone all day. Hen acts like she doesn't know it's hers even though it keeps chirping. I feel responsible because, yesterday while she was off the nest I peeked only to discover something rotting in the nesting box (poop or crushed egg?) There were maggots in the nesting box. I carefully moved the eggs to one side and replaced the shavings and then did other side, I even heard the baby chirp in the egg and it hatched the next day but she has not returned to care for it. She is up on the roost, should I leave it to see if she accepts it or do I have to raise a single chick??

If you want the chick to survive you need to remove it and brood it yourself - the hen is not going to decide to mother at this point.

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?
