Thoughts on gender and breed?

We are new to backyard chickens, so I'd love the input of more experienced chicken people! We noticed some pink in the comb of one of our 4-week old chicks. Is it true that this signifies that she is likely a he? We don't see any wattles yet, but the pink in the comb is making us nervous that it's a rooster. And if anyone has any idea of the breed, I'd love to figure that out too.

I'm not sure on breed (where did you get it?), but so far it doesn't look like a cockerel. I would post again around 6 or 7 weeks to confirm.

We got it from my son's classroom. They hatched eggs, and there were a variety of different color chicks (our other one is black - shown in my avatar). I am curious about the breed, but I am more concerned about the roo vs pullet. It's reassuring that you think it might be a pullet. The pink at the top of the comb made me nervous!

Wyandottes are a little tuffer to sex. As that pullets and cockerels both get pink combs early. Untill they are around 6-8 weeks, then the cockerels will start growing larger. Most rose combed breeds are this way.
