Baby Hatch...Is It Okay!?!?!?

Hello everyone,

This little baby call duck hatch today (day 27) but has a little thing out of its stomach that's bleeding. Is there anything I can put on it or will it be absorbed naturally? Please help!

The navel hasn't fully closed and there was probably a bit of cord attached when it hatched. If you have a little cornstartch you can put a dab on it. I usually just hold a wet q-tip to the navel until it stops. If you have an antibiotic ointment that doesn't have pain killer in it you might want to put a little on the "navel". I'm asuming this is hatched from a broody and in a nest. As long as the bleeding is stopped and it doesn't get infected, it should be ok.
