Keeping chickens away from an area

Thread Starter

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep chickens away from a certain area?  Our hens are locked down at night and are allowed to free range during the day. The problem is, they camp out in the carport and leave a mess with their droppings.  I cant fence off the carport and the girls are used to free range. I hate to leave them on lockdown during the day but they are making a mess of things

Is the carport the best cool and shady place?

Maybe provide another place similar but closer to their coop,

then start hitting them with the garden hose or a supersoaker to chase them out of carport.

Downside of free ranging....they, and their turds, are gonna end up where you don't want them.

Fence em in or fence em out.

Great article on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.

Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.

Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!
