Rooster's pre-dawn chorus is driving me nuts

Hi all,
I have a darling 1 year old buff Orpington rooster (Mr. Fluffles). The last two nights he has gotten up at 4 am to crow vigorously for an hour or more- not his usual 6-8 crows then settling down. I'm hoping this is not his summer tradition (this is my first summer with him, adopted him last year early fall). Tips? Thoughts? Moral support? He's such a sweet boy and I love him but not sure how much getting-up-at-4 my husband can stand 😬

He may be alerted by animals prowling around the coop. Then again he may just be an early crower. It varies cock to cock. I've had those that crow all day. They don't last long and join us for dinner before they leave. I've some that only crow few times at half light and that's it unless there is something to alarm about like a bird got out of coop or predator is around or they ran out of water. You also have to ake into account the moon cycle. Clear nights on full moon can get them to crow all night. They think it's morning and want to get outside.

Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

Thanks- it may be animals in the neighborhood. I should make my dog stay outside at night to ward them off.

My wife suggested I go see the Dr because of sleep deprivation.  I'm more thinking crockpot therapy.

:welcome

I have wonderful neighbors. They don't complain about my roosters, and I don't complain about what they grow behind that tall fence that smells like skunk :D

that said, apparently they've decided to extend the grow season with a big plastic grow house, with lights on timers. The lights come on at 3 am. We have light-blocking curtains on our bedroom window (okay, it's really a thick bath towel ) so the light doesn't bother us. But guess who does not have a towel over their windows? My three roosters! The boys have started crowing at 3 am the last few weeks......It did wake me at first, but now I just sleep right through them again.

some folks have had good luck with blocking light to the coop, you might look into that. Or cooping in a garage, etc until a decent hour. It takes dedication, though, moving him every night.
