Hey, all...
Here's the rub...
I have been raising 2 Silkies since birth. They are almost 4 weeks old. I had them in a 20 gallon long aquarium with a heat lamp. They have been doing fine and spending extensive time outside(5+ hours) for the past week or so.
Here's my worry...
I have transfered the birds from the aquarium to a 3x3 plastic pen and moved all their amenities with them. Water, food, lamp etc.
Since moving them over they have been CHIRPING non stop. LOUD!

Should I be concerned?

Thanks for any and all replies. ..

I wouldn't worry they are just scared being in a new surrounding. If you want u cons just take them outside a few hours a day just to get them started out instead of just putting them outside permanently.

That loud chirping is basically saying that there is something not right for the chicks! It's probably the temperature, make sure that it isn't drastically different from what it was before. Also if you recently moved them maybe you should make it dark and cozy for them to calm down and get used to their new surroundings.

How are they arranging themselves in the brooder? Are they huddled against each other or far away from the lamp? Is there anything that could be scaring them, or making loud noises? My chicks cheep for a couple reasons, because they are scared, because they are cold, or hot. Something is bugging them. My chicks will give an occasional chirp, but never anything constant. It could just be the change in scenery, also. They are, by nature, a prey animal. If they feel unsafe, they will let you know. Give them a week, and see if anything changes.

Thanks, Red.

They are still sleeping inside.
I just take them out during the day. They LOVE it outside!
Perhaps the change us a bit alarming for them...

Thanks, I'm gonna try and darken them out a bit.
Thanks again for the reply.

They seem the same. Hanging by their food n water. Cruising around.
My wife said one looked like it was trying to 'fly'...

Thanks for the response.

Give them a week. See if they change. Don't keep changing their surroundings, it confuses them. If you want, you can give them access to an enclosed cage or something outside connected to the brooder that they can willingly go in and out of.

So you think I should NOT take them outside for a while?
Simply leave them in their pen in the house for a couple weeks?

Could they possibly stay outside for good already?
I'm in So Cal and we are high 70-mid 80 in day and around hi 50- mid 60s at night.

Something about their current living situation is bugging them, Its hard to say what it is, but I would think that changing their surroundings just confuses them. 4 weeks would mean they are all feathered out. If you don't have any older chickens already outside, I would say you could have them outside in 2 weeks.
