Pet turkey sleeping a lot?

Hi! I'm a new turkey mom here! My son has had a pet turkey for about a month now. He got out of his box while we were gone last night and now we've noticed him sleeping an awful lot. Could he be getting sick, or is he just tired from wreaking havoc in my house last night? Lol

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join us here! I'm afraid I'm not a turkey person but I see you have posted in the turkey section. I'm sure the keepers there will be able you.
The learning centre has a great section on turkeys that I'm sure you will find helpful ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/other-backyard-poultry-ducks-quail-turkeys-geese-etc

Good luck, let's hope he has just worn himself out. Enjoy BYC frow.gif

I would suggest checking out the link Yorkshire Coop posted, or starting a thread in the "Turkeys" or "Emergencies/Diseases/Injuries and Cures" section.

Hope your turkey feels better soon!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Thank you!! I originally started with a few bitties and the turkey, but my chick babies didn't make it. I've wanted chickens for years so I'm thinking I'm going to start with grown chickens and let them hatch the babies out for me. I'm told it's much easier that way. I have 3 kiddos and the 2 oldest ones are missing the babies!

Did you find any evidence that your turkey's escapade  may have included eating things that aren't meant for turkeys?

No, we didn't. Of course that doesn't mean he didn't get into something! I wondered about that myself. He started acting like he couldn't stand up as the day wore on. We put him outside in the brooder in case he was having problems from being inside too long. I haven't checked on him this morning.sad.png
