I need words of advice. We have 4 keets hatched out by mamma. They are 3 weeks old. Papa Guinea has been great up until now. He started pecking at the keets and has lunged at me (when my back is turned) a couple of times. I'm not worried about me but I'm not sure what to do about the babies. Is this normal? What, if anything, can I do to stop the behavior. I have him in jail right now.

guineafowls, both sexes will rear the youngs. The females lose interest on their chicks and will do little. I have had keets raised by a male once the female was killed overnight. The guineacock mainly spend his time on his keets"brooding them and drop yammy grasshoppers infront of them. Once the keets become older, he will stop fathering them and peck them, this usually happen when they are 3-4 weeks although they will stay close to their parents until the next breeding season.
