Can my chicks go out to their coop yet?

Hi everyone!

We have 7 barred rock chicks that are 4 1/2 weeks old. We currently have them in a closet sized enclosure inside. Their heat lamp has been off for days as it's been hot here and the temps inside the house have been between 73⁰-77⁰F during the day and 68⁰-69⁰F at night. They have seemed content. I have a thermometer in their brooder room that I check regularly and lately has been between 70⁰-80⁰F depending on how hot it is outside.

I wanted to know if anyone can tell if I will be able to bring them out to their coop soon?

We will not be running power out to the coop so there will be no heat lamp.

Here is the forecast for my area so you have an idea of what overnight lows are looking like, etc.

And here are some pictures of the ladies, hanging out at 75⁰ F in the chicken closet!

They look pretty well feathered but still have a little bit of fluff left.

We are just about finished building their coop and are wondering if we will be able to bring them out to their new home when we're done?

Any advice is appreciated!!

Thank you :)

Nicole

They will be fine outside

Yep, put them out if you want.  My first batch went out at 5.5 weeks and our temps were cold!  In fact, I put them out on April 1st, and on April 3 it snowed.  We didn't get our last snowfall until June 6th. That was a couple of years ago.  Now I don't even brood in the house anymore because those first chicks did so well.  I'm up here in Northern Wyoming, so our weather is totally unpredictable. Right now I have chicks that are just over 5 weeks old and they've been fully integrated and using the unheated coop and run with the Big Girls since they were 4 weeks old.  I brood all my chicks outdoors.

Do those chicks a big favor and move them to the coop. No heat necessary. Also, let them have access to the run. You do have a run, right? Those chicks are ready for the big outdoors!

Now!

Thanks so much everyone! Yes we do have a run, however, we still need to attach the last few bits of hardware cloth before bringing them out! :)
