Hi everyone. I recently hatched a batch of eggs in my incubator of the 5 viable eggs only 1 duckling has emerged. A little boy were calling early bird as the rest of the ducklings aren't due until tomorrow or the day after.

My question is this. Early bird has started to imprint on me. Cries when he's alone or when I leave the room. I have 5 grown WH I've tried leavinghim in their pen for up to an hour, everyone's curious about him but too scared to get close. Our worst case scenario will be early bird will hatch out as a single duck be attached to humans and wind up indoors and alone for most of the day as we work 6 days a week in town.

Looking for any advise. Should I go for more heart breaking tough love and stick him in the run, or am I over thinking this whole thing? It's best for him that he's friendly with humans but knows he's a duck. As of this post he's 3 days old

Oh man I wish! I've got a call out here but seems I'm one of the few who's doing ducks. Checked the incubator last night and it seems like there's another 6 ducks still good to go for hatching - all different ages and stages, not sure how this has happened but it has. going to up the humidity and hope for the best!
