Going Away for About 6 Days..

My father will be watching my 3-4 week old chicks while I'm away on vacation, but he's not into socializing livestock. I spend a lot of time with the chicks trying to get them used to human interactions so they'll be friendlier as adults. So far, it's going very well! I have a super friendly frizzled turken who will walk right up to me when I put my hand in the brooder and roost on me :ya

I'm slightly concerned that having no one interacting with them for the time I'm away may cause them to regress and become fearful or people. Do you think in 6 days there behaviors will change or should they still be on a good path to being social? I'm especially concerned about my little turken. She's my little pal! If they were adults, I wouldn't be concerned, but since they're chicks I feel as though little things like this could impact them more.

My father told me to ask you guys

Thanks! :D

Welcome!  It's very good of him to take care of them while you are gone, and he may find them entertaining and want to at least watch their antics, but if that's the limit of his interest, that's still a big help for you.  They will be happy to see you when you return and you can make up for lost time then.  Mary

Thanks all for replies. :) I think he secretly likes them more than he lets on lol

I have another super off topic question. Have any of you heard of "bachelor coops" before? I'm raising these guys to be friends, not food! I heard it may be possible to keep roosters together as long as they're separated from females. My mom would like to see them (males) being able to roam with our other live stock. We have the space to create a separate coop area, but I can't find much information on if this is a tried and true thing? The other option is to surrender to our humane society since they take in roos. I'm too attached to see them go to the pot (if that wasn't obvious from the initial inquiry) lol
