My husband and I started raising chickens last year and love it! We started out with 6 chicks and two ducklings last year but unfortunately learned the hard way about critter safeing our coop and lost them all to raccoons!
. We have reinforced our coop and are trying again this year and have expanded our flock to 14 chickens! We have 4 Ida reds, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 crested polish, 2 buff Cochins, 1 black Cochin, 1 white Cochin, 1 Dominique and 1 Ancona. We are excited to be members of backyard chickens and have already learned so much from the site and other members!

Predator attacks sure are devasting and I learnt the hard way too.
