There are two possible breedings that happened here.
Rooster is smooth coated birchen, and he bred with a white frizzle and another birchen but frizzle trait. All cochin bantams. I have the parents and grandparents of the parents. I've never gotten a chick this color. Kinda partridge looking?
How is this possible? What parent traits could have resulted in the color? And what color is it?
It's a favorite with everyone who visits. Very neat color patterns. Especially at only barely 3 weeks old.

I've not researched birchen much, but I did recall some of the genetics folks talking about it on the sex-linked thread.

you could also PM kev, he's pretty knowledgeable and has worked with birchen genetics.

. I'm sure the frizzled females are built as nicely, it's just harder for me to see beneath the frizzle.
