The day after I put the chicks (1 month old) in their big outdoor pen they got out and my dog got one. I was just sick about it but she decided that day to figure out how to get off my fenced in porch. Mine are free ranging regularly now at 6 weeks old. I let them out in the morning and close them in early evening. I go out several times a day to walk around with them all following after me. My sons are out and about most of the day. My dog is still on the porch but on a leash too until I can get her a fence built or get a invisible fence. My neighbor had one and it worked great.

I got my chickens first of all because we have tick so bad and second I hope to get eggs eventually. My family loves eggs but that will be a few more months away yet. I also have at least 11 rooster so before winter they will be going into the freezer.
