New here

HI everyone! I'm not sure how threads go, but I am new here. In fact I'm new to the chicken world too.I've done lots of research to make myself as ready as possible, one down fall... I have 2 year old RIR and 4 11 week old amercauna's. Beautiful birds! They all get along with one another... all expect one, I don't know what it is about her but she keeps getting picked on and it breaks my heart. I don't know the reason either. Maybe a runt? Or possibly a cockeral? When they were purchased I was told there all pullets but could they be wrong? And the 4 are all from the same place all kept in the same coop and run so I don't know what makes mine different... any thoughts, comments and suggestions are much appreciated. It's only the amercaunas that are picking on it. My RIRS keep to themselves unless there hungry, and I have put "distractions" in the coop/run to keep them from bordom.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. Firstly, you can post pics of your birds in the

What Breed or Gender is This? forum. I'd also suggest putting multiple feeding stations in the run. It may be useful to consider the size of your run and coop, as well as diet. Its not rare, but you may just have one nasty chicken, and there's only one real answer to that I'm afraid.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre

http://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Good luck

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join us here! I'm afraid there always has to be someone at the bottom of the pecking order. This could be what is happening to the one that's getting picked on. Please do pop by the links CT left for you.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC frow.gif

Welcome to BYC :frow Glad you joined us! It sounds like that poor hen is at the bottom of the controversial pecking order. If the bullying is excessive I would suggest you separate her or the worst culprit for a spell to allow things to settle down a bit. There is more info on the topic here:

Best of luck!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Is it just one bird that is doing the bullying? If so you could put her in solitary ( crate with food & water) and let her cool her jets for awhile.
