Greetings from South Carolina

Hi! I've been relying on BYC for chicken advice for a while now and finally joined the community.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband grew up with chickens and I remember gathering eggs with my grandmother, but we got our own flock when we bought a small farm 2 years ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 20 laying hens and 7 biddies.

(3) What breeds do you have?
5 Ameracaunas, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Barred Plymouth Rocks, 3 Welsummers, 4 Australorps, 2 Black Copper Marans, 5 Leghorns, 3 Easter Eggers, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
We found the site when investigating which breeds to start with.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, sewing, quilting, crocheting

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I share our farm with 3 cats in addition to chickens. We enjoy watching chicken TV and have benches strategically placed near the chicken run for our entertainment - the outside cat likes to watch them as much as we do and is often found on a bench!

Hi and welcome to BYC I am glad you could join us.

I have had chickens for about two years now still learning everyday. I am a kid and I breed and raise and feed all of my birds by myself. If it wasn't for a beutiful rooster who showed up at my house two years ago in November I would have never started raiseing chickens and I thank him for that his name is Fred.image.jpeg

And then I have 20 chickens and 4 turkeys. I will be getting some more chickens soon to start my breeding splash silks is and maybe silver partridge.
I have my rooster that showed up at my house he is an Easter egger, then I have one purebred Rhode Island Red,named Lexi, then I have two americauna, silver penciled rock, barred rock and salmon faverole mix hens, and then those to toe had a baby so they are then mixed with Fred, and then I have three Rhode Island Red Easter egger mix hens, I have 6 baby chicks from tractor supply 2 are silkies and the other 4 are just from the bantam tub there so I don't know what bred they are but ey are all four roosters so they will be finding new homes, and then I have three splash silkies, and one silver partridge silkie, I will be getting one buff Orpington, and one blue silkie rooster, and two more splash silkies.
I found out about backyard chickens from coming here for help and advice when I first started raiseing chickens and now I am addicted

Some of my other hobbies are taking special tiems to go and spend time with my dog, Shelby she is such a sweet heart she sleeps in bed with me and she kicked my in the face last night rolling over. And I no this still has to do with chickens but I enojy hatching and breeding chickens and turkeys

Um we are a family of 4 on a two acre place out in the country we have been here for about 16 years I haven't but my sister and my mom and dad has I ain't that old yet. We have been born and raised in McVeytown pa. And we love animals just my animals are 20 chickens and the four turkeys three cats and a border collie Aussie dog. And my sister had a horse, a cat, and a dog, my dad he has just what ever animals we have. And my mom has two dogs and she used to have a goat and three ducks. And a few more dogs that were chocolate labs our last one died when I was little she was the sweetest thing and thought she was a lap dog. I think she was 13 when she died. And o I forgot I have a pet Guinea pig to and my dad just brought home a baby snapping turtle off e middle of the road so it did t get run over and put it down in the pond. So as you can tell we really love and take care of all of our animals even we take care of strays that people drop off and my neighbors that just moved in they have a horse barn that I take some of my roosters to they have like 20 cats goats chickens Guineas pigs horses. And they had someone drop off this bantam rooster why people do such a thing drive down the road and throw them out the window in the middle of nowhere mean people.

And here are a few pics

The pic with my dog and the party hat is her selabrating her first birthday and the one where she is laying on my bed wrapped up in the blacker I took that the night we brought her home she was to go to Newyork but they didn't want to come down to make the fro because of the ice so they called and told we could come and get her name is Shelby the little dog is one of my moms dogs standing on the porch waiting for someone to let her in she just turned 12 a few days ago. And those pics of those chicks all separate are the ones from tractor supply they are older now. And the pics of the incubator of the chick hatching is a baby turkey we weren't expecting them but I had my hen setting on them trying to get her to go broody but i didn't think they would still be fertile. The top two pics and the fourth from last is my Rhode Island Red Easter egger chickens I hatched that was my first time hatching. And the third from last pic is one of the americauna barred rock penciled rock and salmon faverole mix. The pics in 3-4 and pic 15 are the chicks from the two chickens in the top top pic before I post the other 32 pics that is the mom and dad there. Sorry if this is confusing.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
