So sorry if this isn't the place to start this question, but I did't know where else to put it. Anyways...its pouring rain. I let the chickens go out and about, but they'd much rather stand under the trailer or truck. I"ve put up a bunch of wooden boards to surround the open parts of the run, so they'd have a dry place to sit, but its still getting damp. The hen house is nice and dry, but of course they don't want to go in there.
What do you all do when its miserable out? Am i being too much of a mamma bear?

Yes to the mama bear. :)

Let the chicken make the choice where they want to be. Rain really does not bother them. They need the option of shelter, but allowed them to decide when they want it.

Thanks. I keep the small door to their hen house open, so they can get to their nesting boxes, but they don't just go in and hang out, even though its the coziest and dryest place. The bottom run has the boards around the bottom of the screen area, but not all the way to the top. I've put them back into the run, but mabey i'll go and open the big door for them to come back out.

Mine are only in the coop to lay and roost, unless it is terrible out, as in a high wind blizzard. They just prefer the outdoors as most birds, wild and domesticated do. No need to worry
