Be great if the girls would do it all naturally. But I don't think these are the right breeds.

Yes, you can as long as it is Food Grade DE. When taken internally it actually helps with egg laying and contains other minerals. It is debated as to whether it kills internal bugs since it clumps when it is wet, however it works quite well externally to cut the exoskeltal system of bugs. I put DE in an old baby powder container and shake it on. It clumps a bit, but it works well enough. :)
