Hi all! I went on vacation the other day and someone started some duck eggs in my incubator and forgot what day they put them in on. I candled them and tried to go on that but it had been long enough and I cracked one. it had a fully developed duckling in it that died right after I opened the egg. it had a 1 inch yolk in it also. What do I do? I really don't want to kill these eggs. I have 5 left, is my only hope to open another one in like 3 or 4 days and see how far along they are and guess from there? Any help would be awesome, I am in panic mode right now. Thanks.

No need to crack them. Worst case scenario one pips and shrink wraps because you haven't upped the humidity and you need to help it hatch. That's better than cracking open eggs and killing them. If you turn them right up until they hatch they'll still be fine. I'd say just candle them every day and when you see the air cells go into dip down or see an internal pip, that's when you can lock them down. Or if you see an external pip, lock them down then.

Thanks a ton, I thought if I keep turning them they wouldn't pip because they don't need air.

They'll need air whether they're turned or not :) I just had a chick hatch way early in my incubator without ever being in lockdown. The autoturner was still on and everything! Luckily I heard it yelling in there so I snagged it and put it into the lockdown incubator, lol.
