What are these? Found these in front yard...

We haven't finished a full year at this house yet and are coming up with all sorts of surprises. I've never seen anything like this. They had white flowers a couple of weeks ago and now these appear. They're hollow fruits, no smell, and no visible seeds (see pic). I've asked around and no one has any ideas.

 

The skin feels soft.

Call your county Ag. extension agent?  Call a local nursery?

Yeah, that's the way I'll probably have to go. I have a ton of fruit trees I need identified so I'll probably just take pictures and samples and bring it in the office.
