Breed guesses for week olds ~pic heavy~

Silver spangled appenzeller spitzhauben. Rare!

I hope not culled if male. They're special.
x2! Spitz are awesome, and they don't get nearly enough credit. Such an underrated breed.

What adorable chickies!

In your post post, 2, 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 15, 19, 21 and 22 all look like EEs to me.
I'll bet that the brown-head is a Fayoumi and I have one of those, too.
I have 2 Fayoumi pullets, hatch date 8/24 last year, of which one has just gone broody. They are flighty and lay small/medium eggs. Since I want eggs for sale, they are likely to be sold or culled.

Yellows 12, 14, 15 and 20 all look like EEs to me.
I also have some of the yellow-gray bodies with whiter wings. No clue what they will turn out to be.
My yellow top hats look like this at 3 weeks.

In your feather-footed list (FF), I have two of #3. The leg feathers weren't apparent upon arrival.
Does the FF chick #7 have teeny-tiny wings? If it does, I have one of those, too.

I'd like it to stay the size it is and let me carry it in my pocket.
HI LIddy. AWE your babies look so FLUFFY!
Yes the brown one is Fayoumi That one I am sure about only cause.. I asked like 10 people hahaha.

Thank you for the numbers on the easter eggers! I can see the puffy cheeks now. I could see on some but on others I was like hmm they are kind of puffy but not really puffy.. But I am definitely excited to have so many! Im going to guess I got them in the rainbow pullet group I ordered so YAY that means most should be girls! I have been wanting colored eggs.
The yellow and gray bodies

actually I feel that way about most of the yellows. Some have a lil color in their wings that are feathering out and soem are just feathering out solid.
Thank you for the pictures I am excited to see what they look like in a couple of weeks. I am wondering if I put a little kid pony tail holder on their head to hold the feathers out of their eyes. I knew someone once who who had some polish and she was getting rid of them cause she said they couldnt see anything. So now I am worried! I do have two itty bitty tiny yellow ones. I agree we could definitely carry them in our pockets!

I did not realize How many feather footed ones I had till I took individual pictures. so many colors ! I have almost convinced my family to get this again next year! I have to sell some though thats the deal. Hopefully by next year I will be better at identifying breeds. I will probably update this post in a week or so with more pictures. see what they grow into.

I looked back at the pictures, and to be honest, their legs don't look too green right now.

I guess I just listed that as a breed trait rather than noticing it on your babies!

They ARE!

Our Fayoumis are fabulous free-rangers, great predator evaders, and they're so tough. Isn't it thought that they are resistant to Avian Influenza?

Ha ha, it's always the yellow or chipmunk-striped ones that are SOOOOOO hard to identify, because there are so many breeds that look like that!

Oh no, that's awful! I've got 9 cockerels right now, so try not to feel too bad......

You know to be absolutely honest, I never even thought of looking at leg colors to identify them before you said that! I will have to take a closer look out there under better light! But it is good to know so thank you for that bit of information!

I had not heard they are resistant to it but then again I havent researched them to much yet. Mine do free range so I am glad to hear they are good evaders I would hate to lose it, The last time I ordered from a different hatchery and I got mostly black sexlink RIR Leghorns and a couple othere solid whites and a couple solid whites with like 2 black spots. SO I am very happy to be getting chicks with patterns!!!! A little bit of a change up for me.

yeah the roos -.- after that hatch out numbered my girls. Thats why I also bought 15 pullets just to be on the safe side.

You're likely to have quite a few roosters in there, so you might want to wait to decide which ones you're keeping. LOL. I've been disappointed before because the ones I really wanted to keep ended up being roos.

I had and Egyptian Fayoumis before. She was very pretty and we called her Jezebel, but she was super flighty. She kept trying to go broody but would freak out if anyone went in the coop. It was an explosion of squawking and feathers so she never did stay broody. Fortunately our super sweet Phoenix likes to go broody.
NO dont jinx me!

It will be just my luck that my favorites will turn out to be roos! lol oh boy I can barely figure out breeds next I have to figure out gender! If they are extra pretty I may just keep a roo or too. I am addicted.

Awe your poor Jezebel. I would feel so bad every time I went in if I practically gave her a heart attack every time. I am scared to try and hatch again, if I get another all roo hatch I dunno what I will do.

#23 of the patterned chicks looks like my Bielefelder pullet. I think Cream leg bars look like that too.
Thanks for your guess Honora. It amazes me how closely alike a lot of the breeds look. I was going through cackle online and clicking open each and every link to look at the baby chick pictures. I finally gave up and came here!
Your chicks are cute as the dickens - from the first group of photos I LOVE # 13- what a doll!! Think they are way too young to make any

Thank you! Ill post pictures again when they are bigger for any I still have no idea what they are.
5 and anyone you think looks like 5 is a beautiful barred rock pullet.

13 and maybe a couple more (couldn't tell from pics) is a silver spangled appenzeller spitzhauben. These are rare and on a list of less than 7 breeders and 1000 birds. Keep him/her safe!

I only know these breeds since they're the only 2 I have.
I am so happy you said PULLET! I was hoping for more barred rock but I dont think they all are. Some have eyeliner and some look like they are feathering out solid black on the wings no bars. :( But I will wait and see!
Oh I hope it is a spitzhauben. Some of them DO look like the chick pictures on cackle but they dont seem to be feathering out like 13 so their breeds are still up in the air. And I will keep it safe. I am hoping for a pullet but even if it is a roo I wont cull it. If worse comes to worse and I cant keep it for some reason I will rehome it.

ALEX~ I looked at your spitzhaubens link they are absolutely beautiful!

Figuring out what we got is half the fun!

I am devastated. I just took more pics of the chicks in the brooders -as opposed to the chicklets in the tween cave - and my Pocket Peep(tm) has grown real wings!! :hit It just isn't my little darling any more...

The Polish look like little rebellious teens in Mohawks. I`ll post the pix tomorrow. I'm on my Kindle tonight and don`t have access to them. I also spent a half hour or more looking at 2-week-old keets. :fl

Early work tomorrow...this earning a paycheck really cuts into life. :/

I don't have too many pictures of my white Plymouth Rock as a chick, but here's a couple. Basically started out with yellow and gray and one white feather on the wings, then eventually turned all white. Pretty quickly actually.

The other ones Are Rd., Island red and barred rock.

Thanks so much leigti. I just really dont know where to start with the yellow ones!  I am amazed that anyone can tell any of them apart.
