Don't ever let anyone tell you that chickens are not responsive to the voice and tones of their owners. My wife talks with our little flock of Black Copper Marans every day. It keeps them laying. Works really well through the winter and works some when the Mississippi heat slows 'em down. My wife rarely curses. That is, unless she has had a few margaritas at a family barbeque. Then there's no telling what might happen if her hens haven't been productive for a couple days. And, of course, even though testosterone has nothing to do with the egg laying, somehow the Roo gets blamed for the whole thing!
