Been at the chicken thing for about 4 months now. After taking so much information from this site I thought it time to say hi. Currently up to 14 leghorn hens (ex battery birds) with 1 each leghorn and Americana roosters.

Thank you for rescuing ex-batt chickens. I'm sure they will reward your kindness with many eggs. You may be interested in the "Canadians, check-in-here." thread

Greetings from Alberta; glad you are here.  I also have my first flock.  Pretty awesome of you to make space in your life for battery birds.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Sorry to say I didn't get the battery hens to rehabilitate. They just happen to be the cheapest and easily obtainable mature birds. perfect to get some numbers to build a starter flock. Last time I checked there were 2000 left for sale. That being said they did grow on me. even more now since they feathered out.
