New to quail first time hatcher

I found a 3 step utube for shipping eggs... But how can you tell if you have fertil eggs?? The lady on the utube seemed really professional about her shipping. Ok so if you can watch the utube and tell me what you want me to do next. I seen a utube that said the eggs have to be in the incubator with 3-7 days the egge loose possible fertility each day.

There is no way to know if the eggs are fertile or not till you try to hatch them usually after 7 days you can candle them and tell. I candle mine on day 14 before I put them in lock down. Most people agree on shipped eggs if you get 50% hatch rate you did good. I store my eggs for 7 days before incubating sometimes when I have a large order I will save them for 10 days and still have good luck with them.

Eggs are a lot easier. And you can get your birds used to you doing the eggs. I know that my eggs I sell locally have a 95% hatch rate. So that's pretty high. I haven't tried until recently to hatch my own as. One of the people who buy eggs from me normally, incubated them for me. But I decided I wanted to try. I raised quail for a very long time when I was younger and have recently gotten back into it. I have been getting eggs for a while and have several sets that have hatched. I can tell you though, the larger eggs seem to hatch the best. I have 2 dozen eggs from today and yesterday I can see how to ship if you want. Pm for details and address if your interested.

I was given an application to become a vendor too. Im doing reading on it; Im sure I don't produce enough and nor haven't even tasted the eggs yet but I would like to become a breeder in the future.

I pM you too; maybe I can test run a hatched egg to you in the future to start learning how to mail chicks

*Funny thought about the male call.

I notice I can put all my females together in large pen and none will fight each other but if I include a male, chaos arises. So, I bring a few females to the male's coop when I want to incubate eggs, and they stay fertile for two weeks to a month, and can live in peace the majority of the time.

When I take the females away from him, it almost sounds like he is screaching 'Wwwhhat the ****!' lol. It also sounds like Achmed popular phrase...so silly.

Filing the beak can be done with a set of toe nail clippers. Clip the very tip. Also an Emory board. I use the Emory board as it seems to be the most gentle on the birds. I can't do the clipper it makes me nervous. Have you candled anymore eggs and have you tried the quick fix I told, you about?

Okay i didnt see any signs of babies in the eggs so i have to finally give up on these and returning that incubator so i can find a different one

Make a homemade incubator. So much cheaper and more reliable. I hatched 13/14 eggs this past time. I love the homemade one over any other incubator I have. I have a thread on here called homemade incubator. It tells, you step by step how to build it. Also there is a YouTube video. Costs 20$ and works better than any little giant I have used

Only thing you gotta do is turn the eggs yourself. I turn mine 3 times a day. Once when I wake up. Once around 5pm and once before bed. This is easy takes a few seconds and will be a lot more reliable with a better safer bator. I'll be more than happy to walk, you step by step through the build process. Just pm me if you want to do this. It's simple and cost effective mi now have 52 eggs in the homemade bator
