Chicks wont use ramp!?

I have some about 10 week old chicks that I moved outside a few weeks ago. I have an indoor pen for them in a shed and a door so they can go into their run when they want. In the indoor coop I have an area where there is a ramp/ chick walk up to " second story" where there area roosts and their nesting boxes are. It seems like they refuse to use the ramp! I have put food on the ramp. I have put some chickens half way up the ramp. Nothing, they still wont use it. The sleep on the floor huddled together.

Are they going to out grow this? Or do I have to keep working with them. Once they start laying I'm hoping they use their nest boxes, but they have to go up the ramp to do so! Any advice would be great. This is my first run at this :P

More info please:  Dimensions of lower and upper level of coop, including height of each area.  How high off the floor of first level is the top of ramp?  How far apart are the cleats on the ramp?  Pics would be great.

I can't get a picture of the coop right now since I'm at work but it is similar to this:

What I did was got the idea from a prefabricated coop and put that inside a shed so they couldn't all just fly out when I came into the shed. Its about 5x14 feet in size. I bought a premade walk ramp from a prefabricated chicken coop. The then have an opening to outside with an 8x16 size run. There are roosts extended in the walls of the indoor coop where the screen is- they do not use that either.

There's a very excellent chance that the chicks, when approaching point of lay, will be curious enough to explore the upper story and the nest boxes.

However, if you expect them to start using that space in which to roost now, you will need to teach them because chicks are naturally averse to going into any new and strange place.

It helps to put a light in the sleeping area at dusk so they can see what's in there. Then you may need to give them some encouragement to use it for the first couple nights, by gently putting them in there or bribing them with treats.

I'm getting my own chicks used to sleeping in the coop. I use meal worms as a "bedtime snack" to get them to associate the coop with their favorite treat. Each night, they are more eager to go into the coop. Soon they will be going in at dusk all on their own. They're not quite four weeks old.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep working at it. I saw one going in on her own and was so excited. This was about a week ago and she has never done is since! :bow
