Do You Own A Gun ?

A licence doesn't violate our freedoms. You have to have a licence to fish, a licence to hunt, a licence to drive, you even have to have a licence to sell chicken egg through a 3rd party, a licence to sell chicken meat through a 3rd party, some state require a licence to sell hatching eggs, baby chicks, and mature stock in a public venue, etc.

The difference between the things you list requiring a license and a gun is that none of them are a right. They are privileges.

For example if you have your own pond on your own land with your own fish that you put in it you can fish all day long without a license. You only need a license to catch the public's fish.

Selling of chickens, you should be allowed to sell that which is yours to whomever you wish but that's a topic for an entirely different discussion.

Also, if a license is required, they can just do what DC did when the courts struck down their handgun law. The made training required. Such training could only be conducted by instructors approved by the DC government. For a substantial amount of time they approved ZERO instructors. Even now there are few who meet whatever requirements the bureaucrats dreamed up.

If anyone who proposes a new law, short of a ban because we all know how well those work in this country, can show how it would prevent any of these "mass shootings" then I will seriously consider it. They can't, because the current proposals won't change anything. Better enforcement of laws already on the books will but then the politicians would have to move on to another cause and maybe actually accomplish something.

these are the common trends after a mass shooting

new gun bills/laws coming out as more and more people buying guns..

if only more and more laws can prevent deaths/crimes,, .. then the war on drugs would have been won already.. heroine ?

can you imagine if there's a new law coming out after a certain # of vehicle deaths ?

if you are talking about deaths.. the top killers are something else

i mentioned the boston bombers before.. then there were 3 attacks within 1 week with terrorists using bombs..

then i saw this video last night.. DIY bombs are easy to make and the materials are found at your local brick and mortar stores.. at a fraction of the cost of buying a gun

one of these days the terrorists will realize it that it's cheaper and more destructive to use bombs instead of guns..

guns are expensive .. if you want a rifle.. you are looking at $600-$900+

of course it's a lot cheaper if you buy it illegally anyway..

there was some gang related shooting here in phoenix with 5-6 people death?

the FBI classified mass shooting as having 4+ deaths per incident

notice how they will not call this another mass shooting and don't get as much attention as the other mass shootings in the media.. since gang related shootings are often sweep under the rug like the ones in chicago.. chicago's tough gun laws protected its residents well right ?

1000 gangs (not members) here in phoenix ?

i doubt these gang member going through the background check to get the guns like the law abiding citizens

The Maryvale killer is no longer being referred to as Maryvale. It seems as if they have linked this person to other crimes outside of the Maryvale area. Or so the newspaper says..

I hope they do a better job finding the culprit rather than the slip shod investigation that they did on the Freeway Shooter case. The person they arrested, well his fire arm was in pawn when one of the shootings took place. The ballistics were messed up.

The freeway killer is still out there, so beware. They need to catch the real killer, not some easy conviction.

Several years ago, there was a string of random shootings in the Van Buren Street area. Our kids wouldn't let us go to the fish and chips restaurant because they thought we would catch a stray bullet.

Well, they finally got those guys.

freeway shooter.. serial killer.. etc..

in another state they also caught some punks trying to steal guns so they can kill police officers..

there was a 13 year old in the group.

these criminals keep getting younger and younger

I was thinking the other day which is scary enough....

AR rifles have been available to the public since the 60's. Other semi auto rifles and hand guns before that yet these "mass shootings" seem to be a relatively new thing. I would think if anyone did an actual study they would find that there are many other causes besides the gun. In fact the gun causes none of these.

I have several theories. Some would require a tin foil hat

it's a dangerous world we live in if there's a will there's a way

should we start banning assault cars (?) after this.. any car that is over 1 ton or over a certain HP ?

what's the point of all those HP when the speed limit is around 65mph (interstate 75mph)..

does a water pistol count?. I had a cap gun when I was very young and the noise scared the heck out of me. Truth but, thought a little levity might help this thread - so mods don't shut it down.
