Hello everyone!
We recently adopted a chicken whom, we were told, was the roosters favorite. All her saddle feathers were pulled out. We have had her going on 6 weeks and not a single feather is growing back. She is now on a fully organic diet, lots of dried worms and seeds/nuts as well as her normal organic layer feed. I occasionally make them a serving of organic ground beef (their favorite).
We have applied aloe gel to her skin (from the feed store supposedly good for this). She was born last spring so I don't think she's going through a full molt.
We live in Colorado- we freeze in the winter! She can't have a bareback come this fall!
Any ideas on what I could do to help her? I have seen increase protein levels. I also saw someone say that if the shaft is gone the feather might not grow back... I'm so worried and sad for her!!!
Thank you!
