Duckling with . . . . bent legs?

I suspect it needs niacin. Should a tape its legs? If so, How? It"s about a month old Runner. 

 

 

 

First time flock owner of 5 Easter Egger hens and 4 Pekin Ducks

It's so new to me it's like interacting with an Alien Life Form.

This somewhat reminds me of what happened to one of my chicks once... She had splayed leg though which is totally different:




I believe you are right, your duck needs more niacin. How long has this been happening? If it has been going on for awhile it can become very painful. I would recommend niacin tablets but I don't think you need to brace it's legs.

Hope your duckling gets better soon.

We had to put her down. I later learned that it was possible to fix splayed leg with braces. It would have taken a lot of effort but I still would have done it if I knew... hit.gif

Thank you for the link. I found several websites with info about ducks and niacin, but they were all extremely vague. Without your link I would have probably overdosed my duck on niacin.
