Help! Puller or Cockerel?? - Page 2

Crosses can be difficult to sex due to the different genes they inherit.  Any idea what they were crossed with?  They are very pretty.

With Pekin bantams it's usually the sprouting wattles that give the boys away, as well as a comb that gets big quickly and turns quite pink. Here's a boy and a girl at 6 weeks so you can see the difference.

But I have had a little chick that got a pink comb quickly and I was sure it was a boy due to it's behaviour (very rooish), but she turned out to be a sweet little pullet.  Here's a picture of her with her rather pink comb.  She is a month old in this picture.

So I wouldn't worry too much and I'd give it a couple more weeks then give us some more pictures to look at.

Thanks for the pictures! The brown one does look quite like your girl at the bottom, the comb is pink at the bottom but yellowish on top and a lot smaller than they greys one. But they could be slightly different breeds. From looking at your pictures I think the grey must be a boy. They did tell me what they were crossed with but I should have written it down as I can remember at all!

They are really pretty, exactly what I was after look me wise, but potentially not gender wise! I'll just enjoy them for now and see what they turn in to! I'll post some more pictures when they are more developed and hopefully a bit more obvious gender wise!! Thanks for your help smile.png

Three weeks on and still not sure!! They are very different, the brown one seems to be staying smaller and is very submissive. The grey one is the ring leader. They are lots of fun! But still nothing clear to me on if they are male or female!

Both look like pullets to me. How old?

I'm really not sure unfortunately, but I think they are 9 weeks old. I've had them for three weeks now and my guess is they were 6 weeks when I got them.

Then I think they are both pullets.

Brilliant! Thank you! I really hope so!

I'd say both girls too. Their combs are still small. Roosters would have much larger combs and be getting long saddle feathers. I can't see any suspicious feathering on either of your chicks. They are very pretty colours.

Thank you! I really hope so! They are both very sweet and do seem to be behaving in more of a ladylike manner!!
