Ameracauna or EE??

So, to update my thread, of the 5 chicks I got, the 2 brown and the black and white one all turned out to be boys, dang it! Lesson learned, never pick a pretty chick, pretty chicks will be pretty roosters!! We ate them, and the two little grey hens laid little green and blue eggs, medium/small sized (the white ones in the pix are large for comparison)...we gave them to a farmer down the road, I didn't want to bother with just two chickens that gave me a little egg every other day all the long cold winter. Looking forward to getting a new flock soon, think we're going back to golden comets, they lay a nice big brown egg every day, and they are sex linked, so no more surprises or guessing! TSC should be getting them in next month...can't wait!

What about these two? Ameracauna?

Based off this website, I think they may be Ameracaunas. http://ameraucanaalliance.org/photos.html

This is their picture of large silver?

If you got them from Tractor Supply they will be Easter eggers and will probably lay a pretty colored egg in greenish blue or green but could be pinkish or brown. If they were Ameraucanas you would expect to pay much more for them. Ameraucanas are an APA breed bred to a standard and usually day old chicks are much more expensive. Very few hatcheries, I think Meyers and My Pet Chicken are the exception and those babies sell in the twenty dollar range for a day old sexed pullet. Plus if you get Ameraucanas they are not sold just as Ameraucanas but with the color stated, for example, lavender Ameraucanas, silver Ameraucanas, wheaten Ameraucanas. etc.
That said, please don't be upset with your Easter Eggers. I have and have had both Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers and I must say I favor the Easter Eggers. Both are friendly and heat and cold tolerant but the EE's do lay more, a concern of many people. Ameraucanas are supposed to lay a true blue egg while the EE's can lay other colors or blue with other tints, but I must say my bluest eggs come from one line of EE's I have and from Ameraucana hybrids, not even pure Ameraucanas although you couldn't tell by looking at them.
Ameraucanas can be shown in APA shows. Easter eggers can't but if you want a competitive showable bird you need to purchase from a breeder.
The EE's can be used in all kinds of fun breeding projects to achieve a wide variety of goals.
At the top of my list is egg color, number of eggs laid and the age at which they start laying (point of lay) and at this EE's excel.
So sit back and enjoy your new babies and it will be fun to see what color eggs they lay

Also, i think i may have 1 or 2 roosters in there. It was easy to tell with my Jersey Giants and ophringtons who was a rooster how and when should i be able to tell with these babies? They arent even a week yet. Lol Also, im new so how do i introduce my new hens to my year and a half old hens?
