URGENT - Incubator help!

I have a question. So far, out of 22 that I confirmed were growing, an amazing 16 have hatched! BUT, this 16th chick that hatched had something weird going on with it. For most of the chicks, I've been taking out the chicks from the incubator as soon as they hatch out, so I generally have to take off that shriveled up waste material from their butt(the remaining piece of yolk maybe). Which isn't that hard, since it comes right off. However, with the 16th chick, when I took off that stuff from his butt, this long, bloody, yellow string of stuff came out of his butt. It was a lot for such a tiny chick. It wasn't his intestines, it wasn't the right color for that and it easily came apart, like a yolk. And he didn't seem to mind me taking it out. Eventually the string of stuff came to an end, and he seems just fine. I took a picture of the string of stuff that came out, after I placed it on a paper towel(there was so much of it that the blood was starting to drip off my hands, so I had to get a paper towel before I finished taking it out of him).

Now since he's acting fine and seems to be okay, I'm not worried he's going to die, but what on earth is this stuff? He was the only one out of the 16 chicks that've hatched that had this and I've never experienced this with any of my other chicks.

Das es goot! LOL We had 32 out of 60 hatch Saturday. That is my record for total number. It is not my record for percentage though.
Good luck!

I don't mean to be that person... but it's actually das ist gut lol. I took three years of German and it's not often I get to use my knowledge! I had a total of 19 out of 25 fertile eggs hatch

I had a total of 40 eggs in my incubator, but 15 of them were infertile. Here's a picture of them!

4 Silkies, 14 mix breeds, and 1 gamebird. I didn't intend to hatch a gamebird, but apparently there's a gamebird hen laying in my Silkie nests, because that chick is clearly not a Silkie! I'm very happy to say that this hatch was a definite success(and that I have no idea what I'm going to do with 19 new chickens, since I keep my birds until they're 8 weeks old!). There is one mix breed chick that's acting off, in that I often find him lying on his back. As far as I know he's eating and drinking alright, and when I turn him back over, he doesn't have an issue staying up, unless he's been on his back for a while.

Congrats! 19 out of 25 isn't bad. Thanks for the German lesson. LOL Das ist ser gut. If you can speak English thank a teacher. If you are speaking English, thank a soldier. Ha, ha. Keep setting that chick up. I've had them pull out of it like that.

LOL I know what "Diese maschine ist kaputt." means. That's what happens to your incubator if the power goes out.

Haha! Yes, Finnie, it's spelt sehr. It's been over a year since I last had a lesson in German, it's good to know not all of my knowledge has vanished lol!

True, true. But doesn't the incubator turn back on when the power comes back, or does the outage shock the system?

Unfortunately the little chick who kept laying on it's back died today :( It hadn't done it for a couple days, but I've been essentially incapacitated after getting stung by a yellow jacket a couple days ago. I was still checking on them, but not as often, and he must've flipped back over and stayed on his back too long. The others are doing great though!

I'm sure it does turn back on, but if it were to be off for long enough, you could lose the eggs. It hasn't happened to me yet though, just a possibility.
I actually heard a German say that one time, so I asked if it he said what I thought he said. He laughed and explained that it is almost the exact same in English. LOL
This machine is kaputt. I think England was taken over by Germanic tribes once.... and vice versa. LOL
