New Chicken Run Question

Wow! That's what I call a chicken condo. Beautiful is all I can say. Your "FEATHERED FAMILY" will be very happy. Nice job and picture.

That looks great!! Nice job!

Do you get snow where you are? Iam thinking of something like this but we get a good amount of snow in winter and wondering if the weight will be an issue. I'm having a hard enough time trying to think of building a run with a flat roof and the thoujt of attempting to build a pitched roof hurts my head currently lol

Do plan on wind resistance and snow load, or it won't be good! Mine won't handle a tornado, but will be fine for anything else we're likely to see here in Michigan. Loosing a flock and building twice? Mary

If you live in a climate that gets snow and you don't plan for it you will be very disappointed. Flat roofs will likely not be a good plan at all. We do get snow where we are. Occasionally a lot. We had 2 feet a couple of years ago. Our run is a 1/10 pitch sloped metal roof over rafters with purlins. The structure is 4x4's with 2x6 rails and double 2x4 supports. Might be overkill but it will never be compromised by snow or wind load.

Here is what the roof structure looks like.

What some beautiful pics. Some looked like retirement cottages, some look like retirement cottages w/ hanging flowers and catered meals & "chick" massages etc. What some awesome living quarters!!! Lucky chicken families and their owners. Kudos to all of you.
