I'm pretty sure this is an olive egger roo. I thought all olive eggers would have a pea comb. Do some olive eggers have a single comb?

Hmm that's odd.... I really don't know. The color is almost the exact same as one of my EE pullets, but the comb is not.... With the tint to it I'd be inclined to guess roo. But the single comb and the coloring of the feathers is making me wonder.

It depends on the cross used to make the Olive Egger. You need one blue egger parent and one dark brown egger parent. Most blue eggers have pea combs, and pea combs are dominant. However, with the availability of Crested Cream Legbars, there are lots of blue eggers with straight combs.

Plus, straight combs are recessive, so one parent could have had a pea comb personally but carried a recessive gene for straight comb, and mated to a straight combed bird would have 50/50 pea and straight.

He's sure a cute little guy!
