I started off with 4 ducklings. 3 rouens and a magpie. I believe they are between 6 and 7 weeks old. Only 1 of them had a lot of feathers the other 3 were growing their feathers at a slower rate.

This morning i let my ducks out to free range when i left for work. My yard is fenced in and the gate was still locked when i got home but the rouen who had grown more feathers was missing.

Could she have flown away?

I'd look in every little crack and crevice you can think of. We had a young duck stuck in a pallet last weekend. We were almost sure we had lost her to a predator. She squeaked when I got close to the pallet and saw she was caught in the middle of it. We have no idea how she got there in the first place but it took me breaking out one of the boards to release her. They can squeeze into very small places, surprisingly. Good luck, I hope you find her.

From what I understand it is doubtfull that she flew away. My fullgrown Rouen is too chubby lol. Is it possible she wandered off your property? My ducks have been known on occasion to visit the neighbors. They never seen to go to far though. I would walk around your property, check under bushes and trees. Hopefully you find her.

I have learned my lesson too many times with predators. I have lost full grown ducks during the day to hawks and at night to a bobcate while free roaming around our pond and many more inside their fenced area at night to an owl. The owl left only pieces of flesh and feathers

I now have netting over the fenced area and only let them free roam when we are home to watch them. Hope you are able to find your missing duck!

So far i have not seen any trace of her but i did come across a large black rat snake and a copperhead while cleaning around the creek in my yard.

Also i was told my ducklings were rouens and magpies. What do you guys and gals think?
