Nothing was happening so I checked my eggs. This one was facing down so I did not see the pip otherwise I would not have opened incubator. Not in air sac but membrane not broken. I tapped egg and heard chirping. Added water for humidity and a wet paper towel next to this egg. And I faced the pip up. Is this okay or should I face it down like it was? Any estimates on this chances of this chick? Others are not yet pipping. Certainly hope they do soon as I am leaving town in two days. I do have my daughter watching them for me but I want to watch!

I have had this happen before most of the time the chick will get out without any help I like to put the pip up so the chick doesn't drown. Hope everything works out. Good luck!

Thanks! Now the time to wait is going to drive me nuts as I'm not known to have a lot of patience! However I do know I need to let it be. I appreciate your encouragement.

It did not make it. When I opened it up to look, it did seem positioned correctly, however the yolk was not finished absorbing. I wonder if it would have made it had I made a small whole in the membrane for it to breath.
