Hello! First time chicken owner in Texas!

Help!! One of my cockerels was chirping different than usual. I listened to his lungs and they are very congested. Still eating/drinking. No discharge. Not acting sick. But I can hear a lot of congestion. I already separated him from the rest of the flock. Any suggestions?!?! I'm so sad, he is my favorite cockerel.

Have you added any birds recently? Did you get all your birds from the same place? What breed is he?

Good idea separating him. You should give him a few days in segregation, but don't medicate just yet. Watch his symptoms, and watch the other birds for anything amiss at all. Is it very hot where you are? Sometimes bad heat (or even cold) can bring up this sort of thing. If in 2-3 days he hasn't gotten any better or worse and no one else is showing issues, you should start him on Oxytetracycline; this kind of thing, when seen in only one bird, is typically an isolated respiratory infection. Again, keep a close eye on all your other birds; look for sneezing, coughing, gurgling, rattling, other respiratory sounds; bubbly, gooey, or swollen eyes; runny noses; or pale combs/wattles.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am desperate for advice.
No new birds. Yes, all of them came from the same place. They are 4 week old Lavender Orpingtons.
It has been very hot here, the temp during the day stays In the 90's. I recently moved them from their small brooding pen in my garage (which was lined with news papers) to their new larger enclosure outside. The ground is a packed clay/sand mixture. They have been there for 2 days.
I can here gurgling and he is sometimes breathing with his beak open. I listened with my stethoscope and I can hear congestion in his lungs.
No one else is showing any symptoms yet.
Maybe it is just the change in environment....fingers crossed.

Um my rooster does that to so every once in a while I clean the dirt out of his nostrils and he is fine but then he gets dirt in them again and then he starts his breathing noises and has his mouth open to breath so I have to clean them out again I have never had to do it before to him but I have since spring came. And I have had him for two years.
